When it comes to gifting, Mother Nature would love us more if we made choices that bring happiness to her. I’ve looked through the internet and shortlisted sustainable gift ideas here for your fashionable girlfriends or moms.
When it comes to sustainability, the fabric plays a huge part. Tencel, for example, is a type of lyocell fabric made with naturally derived fibre (such as wood pulp). The manufacturing process of Tencel uses less water and energy than cotton which greatly benefits the environment. Because Tencel is made with plant materials, it is biodegradable. I’ve included two items here that are made with Tencel, #3 and #7.
Another fibre worth mentioning is Alpaca. Alpacas could be the greenest animal on the planet. They have softly padded hooves and are gentle grazers that reduce the impact on our environment. Alpaca as a fabric is airy and warm at the same time. It’s also much more pill resistant than wool and cashmere. #1 and #2 on my list are made with Alpaca,
Three words, recycled plastic bottles. I am so happy more brands are focusing on producing sustainable products. There are two items on my list (#10 and #12) that are made entirely with recycled plastic bottles. Who knew your water bottles could look so good?
Do you see the sneaker on #8? No biggie, Meghan Markle wore Veja sneakers during her Australia royal tour. These sneakers happen to be the most sustainable sneakers you can find on the market. The brand focuses on ethical and sustainability in every aspect in the making of their sneakers, from the cotton and rubber they use, to warehousing, shipping and packaging. Tbh I am surprised these sneakers are still in stock after the Duchess of Sussex wore them!!
